Wat zijn locs en hoe ontstaan ze?

Locs zijn een traditioneel Afrikaans kapsel waarbij delen van het haar opgerold, gevlochten, gedraaid of met de hand in touwachtige lengtes worden gerold die in breedte variëren afhankelijk van het stijlresultaat dat je wilt bereiken.

Hoe lang duurt het om locs te maken?

Het kan 3-8 uur duren om de locs te maken; en nog eens 18-24 maanden om het einddoel te bereiken.

Wat zijn de verschillende soorten locs?

Er zijn veel verschillende soorten locs, maar zes stijlen die je wilt weten zijn: Sisterlocs

2-3 mm in diameter, dit zijn een van de kleinste soorten locs. Microlocs – l2,3 mm in diameter , microlocs lijken op los haar of microbraids. Traditionele locs – 5-14 mm in diameter, traditionele locs zijn waarschijnlijk het meest herkenbare type loc. Semi-vrije locs met een diameter van 5-14 mm. Freeform locs – 15 mm+ in diameter; ze groeien uit de natuurlijke mattering van haar zonder stylinginterventie. Florida wicks locs – secties van dikke locs van 2-5 inch in diameter.

Hoe zorg je voor locs?

In eerste instantie moeten locs eens in de 1-2 weken worden gewassen; net zo min als dat je hoofdhuid droog en jeukend kan maken. Volwassen lokken kunnen regelmatig worden gewassen, geconditioneerd en gehydrateerd om de gezondheid van het haar te behouden en uitdroging en breuk te voorkomen. Je moet ook je hoofdhuid hydrateren (bij voorkeur met een natuurlijke, plantaardige olie). En droog je lokken grondig na het wassen, door het overtollige water sectie voor sectie uit te persen en ze in een microvezeldoek te wikkelen om te drogen. Vermijd het föhnen van je lokken, die je haar kunnen beschadigen.

Kunnen locs ongedaan gemaakt of gewijzigd worden?

Ja, je kunt locs ongedaan maken en restylen. Hoewel het niet in één dag kan worden gedaan, moeten ze na verloop van tijd worden uitgekamd.

Wat zijn enkele veelvoorkomende misvattingen over locs?

Er zijn veel misvattingen over locs, maar hier zijn vier van de meest voorkomende: Vergrendeld haar groeit langzamer – dat is niet waar, maar vanwege de dichtheid van locs duurt het langer om haargroei op te merken. Haar met lokken is vies – nee, lokken worden regelmatig gewassen en geconditioneerd, dus ze zijn helemaal niet vies. Je moet beginnen met lokken van kort haar - veel mensen kiezen ervoor om het lokproces van kort haar te starten, maar het is niet essentieel. Ze moeten worden afgeschoren – maak je geen zorgen, als je je locs niet langer wilt, kunnen ze worden bijgesneden en vervolgens worden ontrafeld of gewoon worden uitgekamd.
