Threading FAQs

Are there any risks associated with threading?

Side effects are rare, but may include redness, infection, hyper-pigmentation, and ingrown hair. To minimise the risk of side effects, always book in with an experienced professional.

What is threading?

Threading is a hair removal technique originating in South Asia and the Middle East that uses a twisted cotton thread to catch and pull hairs from the follicle in a precise line. It is most commonly used for eyebrow shaping, upper lip, and other facial hair removal.

Is threading better than waxing?

It’s not for us to say, but many therapists prefer it because it allows them to be precise without damaging the skin. It also means there’s no danger of double-dipping wax between clients, and it can remove shorter hairs that wax can’t fully grip on to, meaning your eyebrows will stay beautifully shaped for longer.

Where can I get upper lip threading near me?

Upper lip threading is a quick, effective facial hair removal option. Browse and book the best facial threading providers near you on Fresha.

How much does threading cost?

Threading typically costs between LKR 400 and LKR 3,500 depending on the area. Fresha shows upfront pricing before you book.

Are there threading salons open on Sunday near me?

Yes, many threading providers are open on Sundays. Browse Fresha to find options near you with Sunday availability.

Does threading hurt?

Threading causes mild discomfort as hair is pulled from the follicle, similar to tweezing but faster. The sensation varies by area and individual sensitivity. Most clients adapt quickly across sessions as it becomes familiar.

Facial threading may be an ancient form of hair removal, but it’s bang on trend for today’s defined brows. Threading is all about precision, and the threading hair removal experts in Colombo can create perfectly defined arches in as little as 10 minutes using only a fine cotton thread. The thread is rolled over the skin and pulls out even the tiniest hairs by the root. It may sound fierce, but it’s gentle on the skin. And because it’s long-lasting, you can go 4 to 5 weeks in between reshapes. Best for brows and fuzzy upper lips. Download our mobile app for speedy booking.
