Best Hair Perms near me in Macgregor, Houston

Not entirely. The best thing to do is to wait for it to grow out. Frequent micro trims will speed up this process, as can washing it regularly and using a deep conditioning mask to weigh your permed curls down. If you want a more immediate solution, your hairstylist can apply a creme perm to help relax and undo the curls.

A hair perm (permanent wave) is a chemical treatment that restructures the hair's bonds to create long-lasting waves or curls. Modern perms range from tight spiral curls to loose beach waves, and can be tailored to your desired texture and hair type.

You shouldn’t stand with your head directly under the shower for 2 days, nor should you wash your hair with shampoo for 2 to 3 days (48-72 hours) after you’ve had your perm. It’s also advisable not to use swimming pools or hot tubs for a week (7 days) after perming your hair because the chemicals in the water can affect the structure of your hair follicles. Brushing your hair and using heated styling tools are also no-nos for 48 hours after you’ve had a perm; and colouring should be avoided for 3-7 days.

A traditional perm creates uniform curls using cold wave solution. A digital (hot) perm uses heated rods and a different chemical process to create softer, more natural-looking waves that look best when dry. Digital perms tend to work better on Asian hair textures.

A hair perm typically costs between $60 and $275 depending on hair length, perm type, and the salon. Fresha shows upfront pricing before you book.
