The cost of highlights varies according to the type and coverage you go for. Expect to pay anywhere from R$90 and R$600.

How long do highlights last?

The lifespan of your highlights will vary according to the type of highlights you get, how well you take care of them, and your hair’s natural color. Treat them right and they’ll last 6-8 weeks.

Can you get highlights at home or do you have to go to a salon?

Yes, you can buy over-the-counter highlighting kits to color your hair at home. But, choose carefully: avoid products containing sulphates and silicone, and be aware that the shades shown on the packet may not be the tones you end up with. For best results, we suggest booking into a salon with a professional colorist.

How do you maintain your highlights between salons visits?

Your highlights may start to dull after a couple of weeks, and by 4 weeks, you’ll probably begin to see your roots. To help maintain the shine and keep your hair in optimal condition, it’s recommended that you wash your it less frequently (1-3 times a week is enough); avoid products containing silicone, ammonia, and sulphates which dry and even break your hair; and protect your hair with a pre-wash treatment designed for colored hair. It’s a good idea to use a deeply nourishing hair conditioner, too, and avoid using heated styling products.
