There are many different types of facial including chemical peels, hydrafacials, lymphatic drainage, microdermabrasion, extractions and LED facials. Some treatments may incorporate different aspects of different facials.

What are the benefits of getting a facial?

Facials promote blood and lymph circulation beneath your skin’s surface, helping to renew your face’s skin cells, remove toxins, and decrease puffiness, leaving your skin glowing, deeply cleansed and moisturised.

How often should I get a facial?

Dermatologists recommend having facials once a month. Skin cells are in a constant state of regeneration because they naturally die and regenerate once every 4 weeks (not all at the same time, of course).

What should I expect during a facial treatment?

It varies according to the type of facial you’ve booked, but it’s likely to begin with a cleanse and steam, followed by an exfoliation to slough off dead skin cells. If you’ve booked an extraction (to unblock clogged pores) this will come next, followed by a massage to improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, then a mask. Your facial will end with an application of toner and a moisturising serum or cream.

What kind of products are used during a facial?

It depends on the salon you go to, but products used will probably include a cleanser, mask, toner, and moisturiser. If you’d like to know the specific products your therapist uses, ask them before you book your appointment.
