What is cupping therapy?

During cupping therapy, a practitioner will place special cups onto your skin to create suction; this pulls the tissue beneath the cups upwards and increases the flow of blood to the area. Cupping is thought to help draw out impurities, facilitate healing, and improve the body’s energy flow. You can choose to have dry cupping (which we’ve described above) or wet cupping, which involves puncturing your skin with sterile needles so that blood is physically drawn out through the suction process.

How much does cupping therapy cost?

If you’re booking in with an experienced practitioner, you should expect to pay between $25 and $170 for your cupping treatment.

How often should I go for a cupping therapy session?

It depends on your goal and the condition you want to treat. You may initially be advised to have an appointment every 1-2 weeks, but ask your practitioner – they’re best placed to advise you on the session frequency based upon your body and its needs. For general wellness, you can have cupping therapy once a month. You should leave at least a week between appointments.

What comes out of your body when you do cupping?

Cupping aims to eliminate toxins and clear blockages in your body’s energy flow. You’re likely to see this more physically if you opt for wet cupping, a process that punctures the skin with needles and applies the cups to draw out blood.
