Acupressure is based around the belief that in traditional Chinese medicine our health is governed by the energy (qi) flow through certain channels (meridians) in our body. When the energy becomes blocked or unbalanced, we can suffer with poor mental or physical health. Acupressure works by applying pressure to specific meridian points on our body, allowing the qi to flow and restore balance. Your practitioner will then start to apply firm, but gentle pressure to specific acupoints on your body, alleviating your symptoms in the process, re-establishing qi flow, and restoring your body’s balance.
You may experience soreness, dizziness, and bruising after an acupressure session. It’s normally advised not to have acupressure if you are pregnant.
