What is eyelash tinting and how is it done?

Eyelash tinting uses special dye to intensify the colour of your natural lashes without the need for mascara. Your technician will mix your chosen pigment(s) with oxidising solution, place pads on your under-eye area to ensure the dye doesn’t touch your skin, and then apply the dye mixture to your lashes. They’ll let it develop for a specific amount of time, remove the excess dye with cotton swabs or cloths, and leave you with beautifully coloured lashes.

Is eyelash tinting safe?

Yes, but to ensure you’re not allergic to any of the chemicals in the solutions used to dye your eyelashes, you’ll need to have a patch test at least 24 hours before your appointment. Allergic reactions could cause irritation, hair loss, and/or a burning sensation.

How long does eyelash tinting last?

Around 4 weeks.

What are the different color options for eyelash tinting?

It’s best to go for a shade that complements your eye colour, your hair, and your complexion. Colour options include black, blue/black, blue, brown, light brown, chestnut, red, and grey. If you’re not sure which tint to go for, ask your technician.

Can eyelash tinting cause damage or loss of lashes?

Yes. Losing lashes is one of the possible side effects of eyelash tinting; it’s normally caused by an allergic to the ingredients in the dye solution. Other side effects include swelling, irritation, and a sense of burning. Always go for a patch test before your appointment to check for allergies.

Is eyelash tinting suitable for all skin types?

Yes, if it is done safely, hygienically, and if a patch test is carried out at least 24 hours beforehand to ensure you aren’t allergic to any of the components in the dye being used.
