All new patients must undergo an initial assessment to provide the Biokineticist with more information and to identify any cautions or contra-indications to exercise. 

60 min appointment during which the Biokineticist will take a full history of all relevant information (injuries, concerns, pain, operations / procedures, activity routines, goals for treatment, etc.), and conduct a physical examination that may include a full posture analysis, special testing to determine possible injuries or pain conditions, manual muscle testing, range of motion testing & functional / biomechanical testing to determine which areas need to be addressed. 

Appointments can be claimed directly from medical aid savings should the patient have funds available, or payed privately.

Full Initial Assessment

All new patients must undergo an initial assessment to provide the Biokineticist with more information and to identify any cautions or contra-indications to exercise.

Basic initial assessment – 45 min appointment during which the Biokineticist will take a full history of all relevant information and conduct a physical examination that may include manual muscle testing, range of motion testing & functional / biomechanical testing to determine which areas need to be addressed.

Basic Initial Assessment

30-45 min appointment during which the Biokineticist may go through an individualized exercise program (based on the results of the initial assessment) with the patient which will then become their home program, OR the Biokineticist may have an in-person exercise session during which individualized & specialized exercises are done with the guidance and observation of the Biokineticist. Different modalities may also be used e.g. use of electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), gym machines and equipment, massage balls or foam rollers, swimming pool, and or manual assistance.

Appointments can be claimed directly from medical aid savings should the patient have funds available, or payed privately.

Follow-up Appointment

30-45 min appointment in which the Biokineticist will have an in-person hydrotherapy exercise session during which individualized & specialized exercises are done in the heated pool with the guidance and observation of the Biokineticist. 

The buoyancy of water helps reduce compression on joints, and eliminates balance challenges. This allows for people to stand, walk, and move in ways they may not be able to on land. Benefits; Reduces pain, Increases lymph drainage, Reduces muscle and joint stiffness, Improves strength, Improves walking and balance, relaxation, etc.

You will need appropriate swimwear, a towel and (preferably) a swim cap.

Please note that the pool does not have a ramp, but a ladder leading into the water. With water depth of roughly 1.2m.

If you wish to activate your Medscheme Wellness / Weight Management benefit and join the program you will need to complete an initial assessment. 

These appointments are covered by your medical aid benefit and are free of charge to you.

Medscheme Weight Management Program Assessment

Follow up exercise session covered by your medical scheme once you are authorised to partake in the Wellness / Weight Management program, and you have already done your initial assessment.

These appointments are covered by your medical aid benefit and are free of charge to you.

Medscheme Weight Management Program Follow Up

30-45 min appointment, upfront payment crucial.
In person forms need to be completed with member details and consent. 
The assessment consists of flexibility, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness elements (please come in tekkies and comfortable clothing).

Your results will be available be end of day, and statement (proof of payment) will be emailed to you in order to claim back from Discovery Medical Aid.

NB - please notify the Biokineticist if you are taking heart rate suppressing medication such as beta-blockers.

Please note maximum points to be earned are 7500 (within the fitness category of Vitality). Fitness assessments can not be conducted within 90 days of the previous assessment.

Discovery Vitality Fitness Assessment

Discovery Vitality members are allowed 1 Health Check per year funded by the scheme. Additional assessments are charged at R575.92 (upfront payment crucial).

Enhanced Health check consists of:
- Online Digital Assessment (Medical history-, Physical Wellbeing-, Emotional Wellbeing-, Health and Lifestyle questionnaires)

Once you have received your authorisation number to partake in the Universal Wellness Program you can book your initial assessment to get things started.

After you have completed your initial assessment, you will need to attend a monthly follow up appointment in order to maintain your Universal Wellness Benefit.

Please note a fitness assessments can not be conducted within 4 weeks of the previous assessment.

Momentum Multiply Fitness Assessment

Momentum Multiply members are allowed 1 Health Assessment per year funded by the scheme. Additional assessments are charged at R160 (upfront payment crucial).

Body measurements will be taken in order to calculate the person's body fat & muscle mass percentages. 
Measurements are taken by means of:
- Anthropometric skin folds and circumferences
- Height and weight (BMI)
- InBody Scan

Body Composition Assessment

Deep tissue sport massage. This service is not part of Biokinetics, and can not be claimed from medical aid.
