Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) refers to the delivery of higher concentrations of oxygen in a pressurized environment. A typical therapy session will last 60 to 90 minutes in duration. While undergoing therapy the amount of oxygen the blood can carry is increased by 8 to 12 times above normal. The increased oxygen is then able to be dissolved into tissues, fluids and bone assisting the body in fighting bacteria, reducing swelling and inflammation, while stimulating growth factors to promote healing.
