If a doctor has referred you for a post TELEHEALTH CONSULTATION then it is likely because the history of your complaint was already explored and only a physical examination is needed hence the 10 min time slot. If you are on medical aid, then both a telephonic and an in-person consultation will be claimed for if the examinations occur on different days. Nurse Consultation R240 👩🏻‍⚕️ (Not covered by medical aids)

A free blood pressure check will be done. The free diabetes risk assessment consists of a risk calculation. If you score low risk, then you do not need to check your blood sugar yet. If you score higher risk, then you can have further testing done:  a blood sugar check for R50; blood sugar and cholesterol for R110; a blood sugar and full lipogram (cholesterol profile) for R210. However, Discovery Health members receive a Vitality Check which includes a cholesterol and blood sugar. Tests may be covered on other medical aids. 

FREE Blood Pressure Check and FREE Diabetes Risk Assessment 🍎 (Please See Information Below)

Your visit will start with our nurse who will do the following tests:
Diabetes risk assessment and blood sugar
Resting electrocardiogram (Heart size, rhythm and shape)
Blood cholesterol (total only) test
Blood sugar 
Kidney function (urine)
After these tests, you will be booked in with a doctor (on the same day or possibly a following day dependent on availability). Our doctors will form an assessment of your heart's health and a comprehensive management plan to reduce your risk of heart disease (medication may be prescribed). 
If you are private, then the tests above are included in the fee of R990 (R410 for all tests in addition to R580 consultation fee; medical aid rates vary). If any further testing is needed (e.g. a full cholesterol profile) there may be additional costs but these will be discussed with you beforehand. If you are on medical aid and you have benefits available, then we will claim for your fund at medical aid rates. 

Healthy Heart Consultation 🩺 (R990 private rate - including tests; med aid rates vary)

Dr Johan Ganzevoort has an additional qualification as a functional health practitioner and will focus on the underlying causes of illness and will cover the following areas:
- Diet : Eating ; Natural products ; Medicinal supplements
- Exercise : Identifying challenges ; Setting goals ; Inspiring changes
- Stress : Identifying the root cause of stress ; Reduction
- Sleep : A holistic approach to increasing restful and rejuvinating sleep
- Relationships : A resource towards health ; Focus on restoring 
Dr Ganzevoort will develop a personalised management plan covering the above 5 areas. The history-taking process is deeply comprehensive and begins at pre-conception - the health of your mother before you were conceived.

First Visits

This package starts with a visit to the nurse first to do your checks and bloods and then straight afterwards with the doctor for examination. Your blood results will be checked after they are out and either sent to you on Whatsapp you if everything is fine, or communicated via a medical aid funded Telehealth visit, if necessary. By booking this service, you consent to Whatsapp communication of your results or a funded Telephonic consultation should this be necessary for management or explanation of your results. Coverage depends upon the availability of chronic benefits.

Public Antenatal Clinic Patient - Basic Pregnancy Ultrasound and Fetal Heart 🤰🏻 - Any Duration of Pregnancy (R500 private rate; Not for other medical aid patients)

A scan to check baby's heart and if needed confirm the duration of pregnancy. Includes basic pregnancy check-up: Blood pressure and urine check and general pregnancy advice. Full pregnancy care co-ordination may need a further consultation charged at normal rates.   

Basic Pregnancy Ultrasound and Fetal Heart Rate 🤰🏻 - Any Duration of Pregnancy AFTER 8 WEEKS (R740 private rate; Medical aid rates vary)

Please note: Early pregnancy ultrasound done less then 7 weeks is less likely to show any significant findings, even if the pregnancy is normal. If you are less than 8 weeks pregnant, consider booking a telehealth or normal GP visit and we will arrange bloods.

Baby-Centred Visits

Fee above includes initial consultation, follow-up procedure. IMPORTANT: Cost of Mirena or Copper T is not included and this must be collected at a pharmacy before the day of your procedure. The doctor will issue a script for this. A Pap smear is included at the planning visit but laboratory costs of the Pap smear are not included. Sometimes insertion is not possible for anatomical and technical reasons. You will however still be liable for the cost of the consultation and the device may not be reusable. By proceeding with the procedure you accept this risk. 

Insertion of Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device - PLANNING VISIT (Please See Important Pre-Appointment Instructions Below - R1500 excluding Mirena private; med aid rates vary) 

Organise your next Mammogram from the comfort of your home. Also, GOOD NEWS for woman over the age of 25, a self-collected vaginal swab in the comfort of your home is now a validated alternative to doing a Pap Smear for the detection of early cancer and pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix - the mouth of your womb at the end of the vagina. The swab is sent to the lab to test for HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). If positive then you will need to proceed to do a Pap smear but if negative, you have a far lower risk of developing cancer of the cervix in the future. If you are living with HIV then you can test before the age of 25. On the telephone call, a doctor will assess your history, and arrange your tests with you. An additional lab fee through Ampath (medical aid rates vary) and the Bayradiology Mammogram fee is applicable.  Delivery of the HPV testing kit to your home can be arranged (at an additional charge). 

Home-based Gynae Screening: Mammogram Planning and HPV Self-testing 🚺 TELEHEALTH PLANNING CONSULTATION (R375 private; medical aid rates vary)

Our doctors are GPs with an interest in Women's Health and are not specialist gynaecologists. They will however refer you to a gynacologist if this is deemed necessary. A Pap Smear is recommended every 2-3 years by international guidelines for all women aged older than  21 or from sexual activity and every year for HIV positive women. Includes the cost of Materials. Exlcudes laboratory cytology costs (billed by laboratory). HPV testing is highly beneficial (in addition to the assessment of cells) but this is not covered by all medical adis. It is your responsibility to discuss your budget and preferences regarding co-payments with the doctor as the doctor will order what is most beneficial. Please note, this consultation is for the Pap Smear procedure and Breast Cancer Screening only and if any other non-urgent medical needs need to be addressed, then a separate booking must be made. A breast examination will be performed and referral given for Ultrasound or Mammogram as indicated.

Women's Health Visit

An individualised approach to male sexual health for men of all ages including prevention services such as Prostate Cancer Screening by blood testing and also assistance with Erectile Dysfunction, Prostate problems, Urinary problems and other Sexual Dysfunction. Excludes a blood-taking fee of R100 if applicable. Laboratory costs for possible blood tests also excluded.

Men's Health Visit

This is a combination of blood taking and a urine test. Tests may be covered on medical aid. This is an appointment that must be attached to a doctor's consultation and is not stand-alone.

This is a urine "dipstick" test, which tests several parameters of bodily function therefore able to detect a wide variety of disorders. This is not a stand-alone service and WILL require a consultation to interpret results if there are any abnormalities.
