For an initial visit, we can usually thoroughly cover up to 3 main concerns in a typical 60 minute session. For more complex cases, consider a 90 minutes session as this will allow for more detailed attention to your problem area(s). A thorough full body massage requires 90 minutes.

If you're short on time or for young children (8 years & younger), we also offer 30 minute and 45 minute treatments. For adults, we still highly recommend at least 60 minutes. 30 minutes is only enough time to do half of your back (upper or lower back), and 45 minutes is only enough time to thoroughly treat one significant concern.

Therapists use firm pressure and slow strokes to reach underlying muscles and fascia. This technique can break up scar tissue, improve blood circulation, and promote relaxation. This is a 15-minute phone-call consultation in order for the RMT to obtain clarity and details of your case. You will be required to complete a preliminary questionnaire to determine what type of treatment plan your case may require. Once completed, Anthony Nguyen RMT will review your questionnaire and we will reach out to you to let you know whether 15-minute phone consultation before your treatment will suffice, or if you need to come in-person for a consultation and phyiscal assessment.

NOTE: there will be no treatment provided during a complimentary consultation. The 60 minutes is only enough time for an in-depth consultation and physical assessment.

This is a 60-minute in-depth consultation and physical assessment for patients with cases requiring long-term treatment plans (3 months or more). You will be required to complete a preliminary questionnaire to determine whether your case requires long-term treatment plan. Once completed, Anthony Nguyen RMT will review your questionnaire and we will reach out to you to let you know whether a treatment plan and consultation for a treatment plan is required for your case.

Full Body Massage

Heat is often a soothing experience for the human body when the temperature is just right. This Hot Stone Massage therapy allows for the integration of heat into a relaxing experience.
Hot Stone Massage is exactly as it sounds. Heated stones are placed on your body as well guided in hand by your therapist.
These smooth and flat stones are made from volcanic basalt which retain heat very well. Hot stones are generally used to improve circulation and draw out stagnant blood to the superficial layers of your body; then, the massage itself helps to redistribute the blood towards your heart and kidneys for further usage.
Hot Stones are typically viewed as a whole-body relaxing therapy and likely better off as a stand-alone category. That being said, it can also be used in a focused treatment which aims to progress the patient towards their goals regarding specific function.

Prenatal Massage is for women in their second or third trimester of pregnancy (weeks 13 to 40 qualify). In this treatment, the patient lays on her side and we bolster the knees, the head and top arm/shoulder. This resembles the recommended sleeping position for pregnant women and is incredibly comfortable to lay in for 60 or 90 minutes at a time. This position reduces strain on the lower lungs, bladder, hips and lower back from the progressive weight gain at the abdomen. 
As a Massage Therapist specializing in Prenatal treatment, I can tell you that there are no issues surrounding access to your body. Common complaints for pregnancy such as hip/back pain, tense shoulders/neck, swollen legs/feet can all be addressed. For cases that include high risk factors (including advanced gestational diabetes, twins, etc) treatment modifications will be made and tailored to your specifications.

Trigger Point Therapy

Gua Sha / Cao Gio is a scraping technique of the body often performed with a lubricant (oil/lotion or balm/ointment) and a smooth rounded edge (including a spoon, jade stone, coin, buffalo horn, etc.)
The instrument of choice repeatedly strokes over lubricated skin in patterns that follow muscle fibers.  This repetition produces petechiae; red or purple dots on the superficial layers of the skin. 
The technique aims to release blood stasis (stagnant blood) within sore, stiff or overworked muscles to stimulate new oxygenated blood flow to the areas treated, thereby promoting local cellular healing and regeneration. Applying this technique to muscles that are deemed healthy/normal will likely not produce petechiae.
The depth of redness can be used as an indicator to healing time. As the body's circulation picks up the stagnant blood, the petechiae fades. 
Contraindication: if you bruise easily; are taking blood thinners; or you don't want your skin discolored for a week or two.

Gua Sha

Cupping is a modality used in conjunction with massage to draw inflammation within your body to the surface layers. 
Think of it like vacuuming the nooks and crannies of your body where your circulation is sub-optimal. 
The visible red circles produced by cupping at the skin indicates how much inflammation (usually in the form of stagnant blood) was present inside the muscle. Dark red = more stagnation; generally, as the redness fades away, so does your muscle soreness. 
Duration of red circles will depend on: how much stagnant blood you have; whether we use static or dynamic cupping; your overall cardiovascular health. 
Following cupping, circulatory massage techniques help to sweep away and break down the visible redness drawn towards the skin.
In my practice, we use a combination of static and dynamic cupping during treatment.
Static cupping is used to draw deep inflammation to the surface.
Dynamic cupping is used to draw superficial and mid-level inflammation to the surface.

2) Apply functional testing to assess and identify what the case is consistent with;

4) Proceed to treatment if you consent to the proposed plan.
5) Revisit step 2 and measure for improvement and effectiveness of the treatment;
6) Review the experience and determine Self Care strategies that you can continually use to help you proceed to your goal.
