Folk is a queer-owned creative space functioning as a hair salon from Wednesday to Saturday, specializing in natural texture and covering all hair types, as well as color services. On Sundays, we provide rental space for self-employed wellbeing practitioners and creatives for workshops. Additionally, we host an in-house Somatic Trauma Therapist offering therapies every second Sunday.

Every cut starts with an in-depth consultation to make sure you are getting the best out of your hair and can manage it at home. In our curly cut and blowdry service hair is usually cut dry to accomodate curl pattern then washed and a relaxing at basin head massage is included in service. Usually booked when you want to embrace your natural curl and have it diffuse dried. 

Curly Cut and Blowdry

Half head foils cover around half of the head usually from behind ear to below crown and above. This service will give you a natural multi tonal look to your hair colour or can be used to lighten hair. Please add toner to appointment if a cool/ash/pastel tone is required end result.. If looking for a vivid work please add on a 'Vivid toner' in the service menu.
A WASH AND STYLE OR CUTTING SERVICE MUST BE ADDED TO THIS SERVICE

Half head foils

This service is for when you want an all over colour. Usually booked for topping up a colour that needs refreshed through the ends to brighten and add shine. If your colour hasn't been done within the last 8 weeks it is likely you will need this full refresh to top up any fade.

This service is for when you only need a root top up. Usually used for when covering grey hair or topping up a colour that doesn't need refreshed through the ends. Book when your colour has been done within the last 8/10 weeks.

Partial foil covers around a quarter of the head usually placed along the t-zone as a foiling refresh. Partial can also be booked if you are looking for panel work. A balayage service will give you a lived in natural look that doesn’t need as much maintenance as a classic foil. Balayage refresh is a top up service for already balayaged hair. Book if you have had your balayage done within the last 3 month but just looking to have face framing refresh chose this. Please add toner to appointment if a cool/ash/pastel tone is required end result.

Balayage refresh (Existing client only)

A balayage service will give you a lived in natural look compared to a classic foil and is generally lower maintainence. Half head coverage should be booked if you are looking to have a natural sunkissed balayage with some natural pieces left out.  Usually booked if your balayage has been done 3-6 months ago and needs a bit more than just a refresh. Please add toner to appointment if a cool/ash/pastel tone is required end result.

Balayage

A glossing service deposits tone and shine into prelightened hair leaving hair toned, silky soft and healthy looking. Good for ridding hair of unwanted brassiness associated with lightening hair or to add brightness to brighter colours. Add this service onto a Cut or wash service to give your hair an extra boost.

ADD ON SERVICE TO FOILS ONLY. 
A shadow root  gives a lived in feel to a foil service. Good for low maintainence blondes or if you want to soften the grow out of your foil work. Usually 2 colours are used in this service, A darker personalised gloss will be applied to root area and then blended into a lighter personalised gloss. This will achieve a softer look to highlights. can be booked as a stand alone colour service with wash/cut or added onto a lightening service if you want more natural look.

A top up service to a full head lightener to cover regrowth. A top up should be done no later that 6/weeks after a global lightener application to keep warm bands at bay and help your colour look as consistant and fresh as it can be.

A Global lightener is a full head bleaching service. Applied from roots to ends to acheive the brightest block blondes or  a great base for vivid work.  Followed by a personalised glossing toner so you acheive your desired results along with super shine. The lightener has built in protective technology to minimise damage to hair when lifting.

This vivid colour service should be chosen when you are looking to have a melt/ombre effect with your vivid colour or rainbow effect. This service takes around n hour so extra time should be taken when booking this service.can be booked as a stand alone service to top up your vivid but you dont need it lightened.

Twists, Box Braids and Bantu buns are protective styling techniques usually used on Coily/Afro hair. Only to be added onto an Afro Cutting service when extra styling is required. Product is applied and protective style is carried out after hair has been cut and washed. If you require as a stand alone service please add onto a wash and style.

Our restyle/new client  service should be booked to if you are thinking of having a change, haven't had a haircut in the last 6 months or are a new client. Hair will be washed, cut and styled and a relaxing at basin head massage is included in service.

Restyle Cut & Blowdry

Every cut starts with an in-depth consultation to make sure you are getting the best out of your hair and can manage it at home. In our curly cut and blowdry service hair is usually cut dry to accomodate curl pattern then washed and a relaxing at basin head massage is included in service. Usually booked when you want to embrace your natural texture and have it diffuse dried. For extra protective styling please add on.

Please make sure your hair is freshly washed and in its natural texture/style to get the best out of this service. Every cut starts with an in-depth consultation to make sure you are getting the best out of your hair and can manage it at home. A clipper cut/dry cut is usually best for short hair that doesn't need to be blowdried.

Davines Nou Nou deep repairing hair mask is applied to cleansed hair and hot towel is used to help penetration and absorption . While your hot towel is in you are indulges in a lovely hand massage with davines body milk.   Deep nourishment for treated and very dry hair. Untangling action. Enriched with Vitamin E with an anti-oxidant action. Hair is left feeling full-bodied, hydrated and soft.
 

Nou Nou intense repair hair mask with hand massage

K18 is revolutionary in hair care and actually rebonds broken keratin bonds in hair that lead to hair loss through breakage. Aftre only one treatment hair is stronger, healthier and shinier. This treatment is used in replacement of a conditioner and left in the hair for maximum benefits. A hot towel is applied with an arm and hand massage included.

An amazing service that will leave you feeling relaxed and your hair feeling its best. We start the service with a scalp brush massage to gently exfoliate dead skin and stimulate blood flow,  oil is then applied to treat the scalp followed with an amazing head, neck and shoulder massage. You are then taken to the basin, hair is cleansed and a prescribed treatment is applied to suit your hair needs. While your treatment is processing a hot towel is a applied for optimum relaxation an arm and hand massage is carried out. Treatment is finished off with a blowdry so you leave the salon feeling and looking amazing. (Not advisable with colour service)

 Hair mask & Scalp treatment with blow dry incl head, neck & shoulder massage

TREATMENT NOT TO BE CARRIED OUT WITH A COLOUR SERVICE.
This service can be added to a cut and style service for that little bit extra TLC to your visit. An amazing service that will leave you feeling relaxed and your hair feeling its best. We start the service with a scalp brush massage along with a scalp oil to treat the scalp. You are then taken to the basin and a prescribed treatment is applied to suit your hair needs. While this treatment is processing we will carry out a head massage and a hot towel is used to increase absorbtion. While hot towel is on you will recieve a hand and arm massage with beautiful Lavender and geranium body butter. Finished off with your Cut and Style.
