Retwisting locs is a process of tightening and maintaining dreadlocks by twisting the new growth at the roots. This technique helps keep the locs neat and defined while preventing them from unravelling. The process typically involves sectioning the hair, applying a locking gel or cream, and twisting each section using either palm-rolling or interlocking methods. After twisting, the locs are often secured with clips and dried under a hooded dryer to set the style. The longevity of a retwist varies depending on hair type, lifestyle, and how well the locs are maintained. On average, a retwist can last between 4 to 6 weeks. However, factors like frequent washing, sweating, and hair texture can cause the retwist to loosen more quickly, requiring more frequent maintenance. Regular care, such as protecting the locs while sleeping and using light oils, can help extend the lifespan of the retwist. With the loc twist the style of barrel row or 2 strand twists can be done as a maintenance hairstyle
