Acupuncture is a safe, effective, and relatively painless way to treat and prevent many issues that people deal with on a daily basis. It originated over 2,000 years ago in China and is increasingly gaining popularity in the U.S. During a session a licensed acupuncturist uses sterile, one-time-use needles to direct and rebalance the flow of Qi or energy in a patient’s body. Theses needles resemble the width of a hair (about 20 of them can fit into a hypodermic needle which you get a shot with). Once the needles are in place, the patient lies quietly and relaxes while the needles “do their work.” Although some people do see results after one treatment, typically a range of 4-12 treatments are needed depending on patient response and the severity of the symptoms presented. Side effects are very rare and minimal. Acupuncture can be used to treat a very wide variety of ailments, some of which include, but are not limited to the following: acute & chronic pain, respiratory disorders, digestive disorders & discomfort, headache, toothache, women’s health issues (including fertility), neurological disorders (including neuropathy), emotional disorders (including anxiety & depression), sinus issues, sleep disorders, addiction, stress relief, and many more. It can even be used by healthy individuals to maintain a harmonious flow in the body and mind.
