Masca is named after a region in Tenerife where Cate grew up. One of Cate's earliest memories is of her mother picking her up from preschool and dragging her along to a massage. While her mother fell into deep relaxation, Cate watched, hypnotised by the masseuse's fluid movements, which appeared to be some kind of magical dance.
