Lotus Bodywork Recovery Center specializes in customized massage therapy sessions, surgical recovery, manual lymphatic drainage therapy (MLD), and oncology bodywork services. Carolyn A. Witt, CMT is passionate about helping her clients discover the healing power of bodywork and natural medicine. After years of being in the industry and working with patients at The Gene Upshaw Tahoe Forest Cancer Center, Carolyn noticed there was a lack of practitioners helping individuals in the recovery of surgical procedures and the ongoing challenges of chronic conditions. As a specialist in Medical Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Ayurvedic Medicine, Carolyn understands the importance of supporting the body’s healing mechanisms. By combining these modalities, Carolyn has developed bodywork and complementary support to get you back to your routine with grace. Lotus Bodywork is currently located inside W Salon Suites at the Alamo Plaza..

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Custom Fusion Massage
An individualized massage with a fusion of traditional Swedish strokes, stretching, gentle stripping, localized rocking, circular/cross-fiber friction and ROM (range of motion) techniques. Pressure is light to firm depending on the client's needs, preferences, and tolerance levels.
Deep Tissue-Sports Massage
An individualized massage focusing on the relief of chronic pain, stress and restricted motion due to poor posture, injuries, repetitive activities, and physical training. This form of massage is targeted into the deeper layers of tissue that become restricted and hold toxins. Please be reminded to communicate with your therapists when you have reached your comfort threshold. Soreness is common 1-3 days after treatment due to the level of toxins being released. Therefore drink plenty of water for flushing 1-2 days following massage.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Manual Lymph Drainage is an advanced form of massage that aims to stimulate the lymphatic system to remove congestion and stagnation from within the body, and so helps it return to a healthy condition. MLD therapy utilizes gentle massage strokes that remove blockages and promotes proper lymph flow. This is important because it is the primary function of the lymph system to defend the body against disease by cleansing, detoxifying and nourishing the body's tissues. Thus, when the lymph system is blocked, toxins and plasma may accumulate causing interference with cell nourishment and depressing the immune system. Symptoms that are said to respond well to MLD are a weakened immune system, chronic congestion (sinus etc), rheumatoid arthritis and the healing of wounds, burns and scars. MLD is also often incorporated into the treatment and control of Lymphedema. MLD was originated by Dr. Emil Vodder in the early 1900's.
