Tips for great avatars
To make a strong first impression with your profile, follow these tips for choosing a great avatar:
- Show your face clearly:
Your face should be the focal point of your avatar. Choose a clear, well-lit image avoiding full-body or distant shots. - Keep it professional:
Choose an image that reflects your professional brand. Avoid casual selfies, party photos, or vacation snaps. - Use good lighting:
Natural light works best. Take your avatar image in a well-lit area, either near a window or outdoors. Try facing toward the light for the most flattering effect! - Use a clear background:
Choose a simple, clean background that doesn’t distract from your face. Solid colors or neutral settings are ideal. - Use a high-quality image:
Use a high-resolution image to avoid blurry or pixelated photos. A clear, sharp avatar shows attention to detail and professionalism. - Highlight your brand:
Your avatar should match the style of your services. If you're a hairstylist known for bold, creative looks, show that in your photo. If you're a wellness coach, opt for a calm, serene image.
Common mistakes to avoid
While choosing an avatar for your profile, avoid these common mistakes:
- Group photos:
While it might be tempting to use a photo with your team or friends, your avatar should feature only you. - Heavy editing or filters:
Over-edited or heavily filtered images can feel inauthentic. Use a natural photo that lets your real self shine. - Distracting props:
Skip photos where you're holding big objects or props that take attention away from your face.
