Collect payments using Tap to Pay on Android
Securely accept contactless payments in person without needing any extra hardware. Learn how to process payments directly from your Android for smoother transactions.
Tap to Pay on Android Setup
To start using Tap to Pay on Android, you need an Android device running version 11 or newer with the latest security patch, which must be dated March 5th, 2022, or later. Your device should also have:
- An NFC reader that is enabled on your device.
- Support for hardware key attestation and Google certification.
The latest version of the Fresha partner app.
Supported card payment providers
For Tap to Pay on Android, only VISA, Mastercard, and AMEX are supported at this time. Other card providers are not compatible with this feature.
Activating and using Tap to pay
Tap to Pay on Android accepts contactless Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards and digital wallets, with all payments collected directly into your business wallet.
To activate and use Tap to Pay on Android:
- Open the Fresha partner app on your Android.
- Head to your Calendar and open the appointment you want to checkout, or create a new appointment for a walk-in client.
- Tap Checkout and review your cart before you Continue to payment.
- Select your payment method as Tap to Pay and Pay now.
- When prompted on-screen to Tap card behind device, ask your client to tap their contactless card or digital wallet.
- Once the payment has been processed, a transaction receipt will be generated which can be shared with the client by tapping Share receipt.
When using Tap to Pay on Android, standard in-person processing fees will apply along with an additional processing fee for Tap to Pay on Android. Find out pricing for all of Fresha's paid features, including Tap to Pay on Android, on our website.

Any team member can checkout an appointment or sale using Tap to Pay on Android using their own Android as long as they are logged into the workspace with the correct permissions, Android device, and version.
Currently, Tap to Pay on Android with Fresha is only available for users in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, The Baltics, Gibraltar, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United States, Canada.
Tap to Pay on Android is available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. Ensure your device runs Android 11 or newer with a security patch dated March 5, 2022, or later, and update the Fresha partner app. Verify your location details are complete, including your full address. No, customers can currently on use Mastercard or Visa credit and debit cards or Digital Wallets (Apple Pay and Google Pay) for Tap to Pay on Android payments as long as their cards support contactless payments. Tap to Pay on Android does not currently support flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA) cards as these are not yet accepted through our payment processing provider, Adyen. Fresha's Tap to Pay on Android will accept contactless credit and debit cards via Visa, Mastercard and, Digital Wallets (Apple/Google Pay).
No, payments accepted through Tap to Pay on Android will only be collected directly into your business wallet. These payments cannot be set up to individual team member wallets. Once the payment has been collected, you can send the payment from your business wallet to the relevant team member's personal wallet.
Your Tap to Pay on Android transactions will appear in your business wallet as soon as the payment has been processed - you can view the transaction under the business wallet's Account activity. The money is released into your bank account according to the payout schedule you've setup in your Fresha account.
Chargebacks initiated for transactions processed through Tap to Pay on Android will follow the same procedure as chargebacks initiated for any other card transactions within the Fresha platform. Learn more about the chargeback process and prevention methods.
No, you won’t need to download any additional apps to use Tap to Pay on Android with Fresha. This option is available directly in the Fresha partner app when checking out an appointment.
No, all card transactions processed through Fresha, including refunds, are subject to the payment processing fee. The card payment processing fees are non-refundable as the service of collecting the money was already provided.
We recommend keeping your card terminal as a backup as some clients might not have an Android or prefer using Tap to Pay on Android. The card terminal allows you to accommodate various payment preferences.
No, there is no maximum amount when processing card payments using Tap to Pay on Android.
