Understand how clients use gift cards
Enhance your business by offering gift cards, making it easy for clients to redeem, book appointments, and share with loved ones. Learn how to help you understand how clients can make the most of their gift cards.
Getting started
Before diving into how clients use gift cards, make sure you’ve set everything up:
- Set up gift cards.
- Set up and publish your Marketplace profile.
- Enable payment processing if you’re in a payment-enabled country to receive online gift card payments.
How gift cards work for clients
Clients can buy gift cards directly from your business or redeem ones gifted to them. Once claimed, gift cards are stored in their Wallet on Fresha.
The Wallet houses all payment methods, including gift cards, memberships, and credit/debit cards.
To access their wallet, clients can:
- Open the Fresha app.
- Tap the profile icon and select View wallet.
- View balances for each venue.
- Tap a venue name to see individual gift card details.
The Wallet balance displays the combined total value of all gift cards a client holds with a specific venue.
Claiming gift cards
Gift cards purchased by the client automatically appear in their Wallet. Gifted cards can be claimed using one of two methods:
Through the wallet:
- Open the Fresha app.
- Tap the profile icon and select View wallet.
- Select Add a gift card and enter the code.
- Tap Confirm.
When booking online:
- Open the Fresha app.
- Find and book an appointment.
- During booking, tap Edit next to the Payment method.
- Select Add a gift card and enter the code.
- Tap Confirm.
Paying with gift cards
Using a gift card for payment
Gift cards automatically appear as the default payment method when booking appointments.
If your services require upfront payment, clients can:
- Open the Fresha app.
- Find and book an appointment.
- During booking, tap Edit next to the Payment method.
- Select the gift card and tap Done.
- Tap Confirm and then Pay now.
Combining gift cards with other payment methods
If the gift card balance is insufficient to cover the full amount, clients can pay the remainder with another payment method:
- Open the Fresha app.
- During booking, the payment method will show as “Multiple”. Tap Edit next to it.
- Select a card or Apple Pay for the remaining balance.
- Tap Confirm and then Pay now.
Gift cards cannot be used for self-checkout, tips, memberships, or to purchase products online.
Managing gift cards
Clients can view and manage their gift cards through their Fresha account.
To manage their gift cards, clients can:
- Open the Fresha app.
- Tap the profile icon and select View Wallet.
- Next to the gift card, tap View to see an overview of the gift card activity.
- Select View details to:
- Share gift cards:
Tap Share to send them to friends or family via email. - Print:
Tap Actions, then select Print and follow your device instructions. - View invoice:
Tap Actions, then select View invoice.

Sharing gift cards
Clients can easily share a gift card with friends or family.
To share gift cards, clients can:
- Open the Fresha app.
- Tap the profile icon and select View wallet.
- Next to the gift card, tap View, then View Details.
- Select Share and choose a style from the selection of images.
- Enter the sharing details including:
- Sender name:
Your name as the current gift card owner. - Recipient name:
The name of the person you're sending it to. - Recipient email address:
The email address that the gift card will be sent to. - Personal message:
Optionally add a personalized message for your recipient. - Send date:
The date you want the gift card to be sent to the recipient. For example, a special occasion like a birthday
- Sender name:
- Review and tap Share gift card.
Shared gift cards will move to the Expired or Shared section in the Wallet.
