Manage service categories
Service categories help organize your services, making it easier for clients to find what they need when booking online. Learn how to create, organize, and manage service categories effectively.
How service categories work
Service categories help you organize similar services on your service menu so clients can easily find what they need when booking online. For example, a hair salon might have separate categories for "Haircuts" and "Hair coloring."
Enabling category colors in your Time and calendar settings, will also make it easier to spot appointments by type in your calendar for better scheduling.
Each service can only belong to one category at a time, and you can arrange them in any order. You can also enable category colors in your Time and calendar settings to make them easier to spot in your schedule.
Create a new service category
Creating service categories helps clients easily find and select services when booking online. Start by deciding which types of services to group together.

- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- From the Service menu, click on the Add button and select Category.
- Enter a Category name. For example, "Hair Color Services”.
- Select an Appointment color to help visually identify services within the category in the calendar.
- Add a Description to provide details about the services within the category.
- Click Add to save the category.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu, tap (+) Add, and then Category.
- Enter a Category name. For example, "Hair Color Services”.
- Select an Appointment color to help visually identify services within the category in the calendar.
- Add a Description to provide details about the services within the category.
- Tap Add to save the category.
Tip: Before adding categories, consider how to group your services for the best client experience. For example, a beauty salon might separate "Facials" from "Waxing" to help clients quickly find their desired service.
Add new services to a service category

- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- Next to the relevant category, click Actions, then select Add service.
- Create a service by filling in the service details.
- Click Save to add the new service in the category.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu, tap (+) Add, and then Single Service.
- Create a service by filling in the service details, including adding the service to an existing Category.
- Tap Save to add the new service in the category.
Add existing services and packages to a service category

- Mobile
- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- On your service list, drag and drop your existing service or packages into the relevant category.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu.
- Tap on the service or package you want to add to a different category and select Edit.
- Under the Menu category section, tap Select and choose the category.
- Tap Save to apply these changes.
Order and rearrange service categories
Keeping your service categories updated ensures clients see the most relevant options when booking.

- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- Click on the Manage order button from the service menu.
- Use the dropdown filter to choose to make the following changes for how your clients see your service menu when booking online:
- Categories and services:

4. Click Save to apply changes.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu.
- Tap Actions (three dots), and then select Set menu order.

Regularly update category and service descriptions to ensure accuracy and highlight promotions.
Edit a service category

- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- Next to the relevant category in your service menu, click Actions, then select Edit.
- Make changes to the category details as needed.
- Click Save to apply changes.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu.
- Next to the relevant category in your service menu, tap Actions (three dots), then select Edit.
- Make changes to the category details as needed.
- Tap Save to apply changes.
Archive a service category

- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- Next to the category you want to archive, click Actions, then select Archive.
- You’ll be notified that all of the services and packages that belong to the category will be archived.
- In the notification, click Archive all to proceed and confirm.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu.
- Next to the relevant category in your service menu, tap Actions (three dots), then select Archive.
- You’ll be notified that all of the services and packages that belong to the category will be archived.
- In the notification, tap Archive all to proceed and confirm.
Unarchive a service category

- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- Click Filters from the service menu bar.
- When configuring filters, select Archived under Status, then click Apply.
- Next to the archived category, click Actions, then select Unarchive.
- Click Unarchive to confirm.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu.
- Tap the Filter icon, select Archived under Status, then tap Apply.
- Next to the archived category, tap Actions (three dots), then select Unarchive.
- Tap Unarchive to confirm.
- Tap the ‘X’ button next to the Archived filter to return to your regular Service Menu.
Delete a service category
- Desktop
- Mobile
- From the main menu, go to Catalog and select Service menu.
- Next to the category you want to delete, click Actions, then select Permanently delete.
- You’ll be notified that all of the services and packages that belong to the category will be deleted.
- In the notification, click Delete all to proceed and confirm.
- From the main menu, go to the Menu icon and tap on Catalog.
- Select Service menu.
- Next to the category you want to delete, tap Actions (three dots), then select Permanently delete.
- You’ll be notified that all of the services and packages that belong to the category will be deleted.
- In the notification, tap Delete all to proceed and confirm.
Deleting a category does not remove the services within it. They will remain in the service list but will no longer be assigned to a category.
