So I begin by working deeply into the spasmed, contracted and knotted up muscle adhesions, using strong circular movements, deep longitudinal stretching and cross fibre frictioning, with the aim of releasing the high tension strain in your muscle fibres. This process brings elasticity and flexibility back into the muscles, encourages the flow of lymphatic fluid, increases and enriches the blood circulation, increases range of muscle movement, and takes away that deep aching muscle pain that you are suffering from.

It is quite a vigorous, flowing and rhythmical type of massage, in which I use palms, wrists, fingers and forearms to glide smoothly over your body as I move around the table in a rhythmic  'hula'style tai chi  dance movement. Swedish massage is the scientific and systematic manipulation of  soft muscle muscle tissue in order to bring about a healing or therapeutic outcome. I focus on relaxing your whole body from head to feet by rubbing your muscles with these long gliding strokes called effleurage, in the direction of the venous blood returning to the heart. The smoothly polished basalt stones that I use in Hot Stone massage give off a deeply penetrating heat, that relaxes the muscles and allows me to access deeper muscle layers which gives a more profound overall effect. I firstly position special placement stones on certain acupressure or 'energy' point(spine, feet and hands and toes), to help prepare your body for this treatment. Then by holding the heated stones in my hands I will begin with a series of gliding strokes and steady pressures(on acupressure and trigger points) over your tight knotted up muscles, tendons and ligaments, to warm and deeply relax them, while taking away stress, and chronic pain. In an aromatherapy massage I prepare a synergistic harmonious blend of essential oils(mixed in a base of organic comfrey cream), which are tailored to not only your physical symptoms, but also to your emotional and psychological make up. In this system there is a rhythmical motion created by the rise and fall of cerebrospinal fluid pressure( this subtle rhythm varies from 6 to 10 cycles per minute).  It is this wave like motion that I will be monitoring at key points of the body in order to find the source of the obstruction.  Then using very soft directional pressures on the face, skull and spine, I will begin a rhythmical unwinding process that leads to the bones releasing and floating free.

Reflexology is a powerfully effective form of therapeutic foot massage. Your feet are a miniature map of your whole body, and all body parts,organs and glands are reflected in your feet as reflex areas in a pattern similar to their positioning on your body.   The art of reflexology is very different to basic foot massage in that it is a precise pressure technique that works on specific reflex points on your feet that correspond with all body parts.  Firm direct pressure is applied to the particular reflex area on your foot using thumb and finger techniques--this sends an electromagnetic signal via the nervous system to the corresponding organ in your body encouraging it to start eliminating its toxins and acid wastes.

During this Shiatsu treatment, I am applying varying pressures on the points (called tubos) that lie along the invisible meridians (energy channels) that run along the surface of your body. In lymphatic drainage massage, I use a series of gentle, rhythmic, directional strokes applied in a light pumping action to move the skin in the Lymph flow direction towards the heart. This process stimulates the Lymphatic vessels and allows them to carry the congested plasma Lymph towards the Lymph Nodes (in the neck, under arms and in the groin), where Lymphocyte chemicals can neutralise the toxins (that an infection will produce), and then carry the cellular waste back into the bloodstream for disposal.

When I am doing a trigger point treatment, I firstly identify and then deactivate these trigger points by applying a strong direct pressure for a short period of time. I also stretch and elongate the muscle fibres, in which the trigger points are clustered by, using deep longitudinal strokes ( called rolfing), cross fibre frictioning, shiatsu, acupressure and muscle energy techniques.

Chinese cupping involves the application of one or a cluster of suction cups to an area on the body where there are muscle knots and adhesions or to an area of lymphoedema or swelling of body tissue. Cupping has the opposite effect on the body tissues to that of massage--cupping will loosen and stretch the underlying facia and muscle tissue, which causes an inflow of blood and fluid into the expanded tissue. Cupping also brings about rehydration of hardened contracted muscle fibres.
