Whether you are seeking relief from discomfort, tension or pain, or needing to destress and unwind, a therapeutic/relaxation massage will help address your needs.  At the beginning of the appointment we will discuss what you are wanting to address and plan the best way to do this within the session.  Therapeutic/Relaxation massage uses firm slow strokes to relieve muscle tension.  At times I may move your limbs to enhance the stretch and movement of a particular muscle.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage assists the flow of the lymphatic system.  It is a gentle and relaxing technique for those with swelling caused by excess fluid, recovering from illness or surgery, dealing with stress, undergoing a detox, and many health conditions.  Please read the information on my website for further details.  https://therecoveryroom.co.nz  This is a longer appointment as we need to do a thorough intake assessment and treatment plan/goals. 15 minute assessment + 60 minute treatment

Please book this as your first appointment.  Remedial massage targets a particular issue that is causing pain or discomfort. This may be caused by work, sport, or an injury (old or new). At your first appointment I allow an extra 15 minutes for a thorough assessment of the issue which may include some physical assessments of posture, the range of movement of a joint or other testing to help ascertain which muscles are involved, how your body is moving, and any pain/restriction of movement.  We then make a plan to address the issue.  Remedial massage focusses on the particular area and I may only massage that part of your body.  The massage may include trigger point therapy, neuromusclular techniques, along with other massage techniques, movement and stretching.  It is an active massage rather than a relaxing one as I may move your limbs more, ask you to provide resistance and change positions.  I may recommend you have more than one session in order to fully address the issue.

Relax and enjoy a gentle but firm full body massage to soothe the aches and pains as your body grows and changes with your baby.  This pregnancy massage focusses on easing muscle tension, relaxing mum and baby, helping fluid move around the body, and providing some special time for Mum to treat herself.  The massage can be done from your 12 week scan onwards and will usually take place in the sidelying and/or semi reclining position to ensure the optimal comfort and safety for you and baby.  Please read the further information provided on my website before booking - www.therecoveryroom.co.nz.  The first appointment includes some extra time to do a thorough assessment covering your health and pregnancy.  If you have had any health concerns during your pregancy please discuss massage with your midwife or GP  before coming for this appointment.

If this is your first visit please book the 'initial visit' option. Relax and enjoy a gentle but firm full body massage to soothe the aches and pains as your body grows and changes with your baby.  This pregnancy massage focusses on easing muscle tension, relaxing mum and baby, helping fluid move around the body, and providing some special time for Mum to treat herself.  The massage can be done from your 12 week scan onwards and will take place in the sidelying position to ensure the optimal comfort and safety for you and baby.   If you suffer from any high risk pregnancy issues you must get written confirmation from your GP/Midwife that massage is appropriate ie, hypertension, diabetes, pre eclampsia, or any bleeding. Pregnancy Massage 60 mins - Follow up visit

Post natal massage offers relief from tension created by feeding and caring for your baby, as well as helping your body recover from the birthing process.  It is common to experience back, neck and shoulder pain from the amount of time spent holding and feeding your new baby and massage can help relieve some of this tension.  It is also common to experience low back and pelvis pain as your body readjusts to it previous posture and your tendons, ligaments and muscles realign themselves.  Post Natal massage is safe from 2 weeks on but if you are still under your midwife's care please seek approval from her before booking. It is preferable for you to leave your baby at home in someone else's care so that you can concentrate on yourself however, if this is not possible you are welcome to bring them in a car seat freshly fed and changed so that they will hopefully sleep!  Sessions are tailored to your needs but can include some gentle abdominal work to help you reconnect with these muscles.
